A Writer’s Best Friend: Coffee

Okay, so for a gift this year, my husband got me Death Wish Coffee.  He knows me so very well.  Okay, so Death Wish Coffee prides it self on being the “strongest coffee in the world”.  This writer drinks her share of coffee. I love it.  I live it.  I drink it every day.  Sometimes multiple times a day.  So, having read this I was a little nervous.  I received the gift in the afternoon (after already having two cups of coffee).  I usually take my coffee half espresso/half regular.  I tend to lean towards sweeter coffee.  Generally, you will find Duncan Doughnuts Carmel Coffee Cake coffee and any expresso in my cupboard.  Okay, on with my story.

I chose to wait until today to try the coffee, worried that, since I already suffer from insomnia, I would loose even more sleep.  So Death Wish Coffee has such a wonderful scent.  Obviously this was the first thing I noticed.  Even my toddler caught me smelling the coffee and asked to smell it! I roasted it this morning, sans my regular coffee machine.  I don’t do fancy stuff.  No Keurig here, no fancy brewing machine, just old school coffee maker.  I used four scoops for my four cups.  I usually can do that in a day or two.

The coffee is good.  If you are expecting some shocking results, don’t worry!  I was expecting to be like those cartoons where my pupils dilate and I get all crazy from the effects of the coffee. This is not the case.  Because I am a more-than-one-cup-of-coffee-a-day kind of person, and a person who takes coffee a bit stronger, I think the results don’t have the same effect on me they could have on others.  That being said, I still really enjoyed the coffee. It is a little bolder of a flavor and is so rich!  I think it has a slower effect for me, kind of keeping me going.  I actually prefer this to the sugary high of my other coffee.  I feel like I have gone the entire day without feeling like I am dragging, or that I needed a second cup.  Yes, I am having another half a cup now, but that is because it is cold and I enjoy sipping my coffee while I am writing.  Call it a quirk.

There are a lot more good things that come from the coffee.  The fact that it organic and fair trade is pretty awesome!  I encourage you to give this coffee a try.  For more information you can check out their website here.

I feel the need to tell you, I purchased this coffee on my own. No one asked me for this review, I simply wanted to share the love! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Happy Writing!

Agree! When I got it, I thought it was super creepy too!! It’s definitely pretty tasty. I told my friend that I liked that I didn’t have that sugar high and crash. It was like having a nice flow to the day. I didn’t feel tired at all, and I didn’t feel like crazy caffeinated either, I just felt awake. LOL!!!

Coffee is goood! Coffee is sooo goood! Yeah, green tea lovers may beg to differ, but who cares 😉 Coffee actually has amazing health benefits, just like everything else, moderation is the key. Happy sipping on Death Wish (that’s a wicked name!!) 🙂

Best reviews are the unsolicited ones. My husband is a HUGE coffee person, whereas I just have one in the morning, but I’m intrigued to try this. I love rich coffees

I wouldn’t mind pulling my drip coffee maker out and trying some of this. I like the ease of using my Keurig and Capresso machines but I still get a hankering for drip coffee now and then and I just pull my coffee pot out.

That sounds like the coffee of my dreams! LOL
I am a coffee lover too and always need a cup when I;m at my computer, or sitting down with the kids. I will definitely have to try that out
